How often should you service your car?

The right interval is the one in your vehicle's service schedule — usually found in the owner's manual or logbook.

As a rule of thumb, many cars are due every 10,000 to 15,000 km or every 12 months, whichever comes first. Turbo engines, towing, lots of short trips and dusty roads can justify shorter intervals.

A basic service usually covers the oil and filter change plus key safety checks. A full or logbook service follows the manufacturer's list for that interval — filters, fluids, plugs and inspections — and keeps your service history complete.

Hybrids and EVs follow their own schedules: fewer fluid changes, but brakes, tyres, cooling systems and the 12-volt battery still need checking.

Keeping every invoice helps resale value. With MYLES, completed jobs are saved to your vehicle's history automatically.
